Thank Goodness for Poetry

Oceans by Juan Ramón Jiménez translated by Robert Bly in The Soul Is Here for Its Own
Joy (HarperCollins publishers, 1995) p. 246.).

I have a feeling that my boat
has struck, down there in the depths,
against a great thing.

And nothing
happens! Nothing ... Silence ... Waves....

—Nothing happens? Or has everything happened,
and are we standing now, quietly, in the new life?

Poetry saved me, more by writing it than reading it. It brings creativity back into my life.

I had a note from Laura Hilldebrand, btw, on Facebook. She's a member of the new CFIDS group there but not taking friends. Her books keep her going. Of course you know about how hard it was for her to write Seabiscuit. She says she's just spent five more exhausting years finishing her next book.

We all find a way, don't we! We inspire each other.
